Twenty years ago today, TWA flight 800 left JFK and 12 minutes later, exploded over Long Island. I remember exactly what I was doing and where I was. I was in Tacoma Washington and I was bathing my twins when the phone rang. My father was taking my grandmother back to France for a surgery and they were flying standby when seats became available on flight 800. I spent 2 weeks in New York with the rest of the families, trying to make sense of this tragedy and I was supposed to be there today for the 20 year anniversary but I stayed home. My kids could all be here at the same time in the same place and I said to myself "How often is that going to happen?" Life is so short, spend time with your loved ones now, because you never know when they'll be taken away.
